George Springer was instrumental for the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their first World Series after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for this squad, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, making him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not anyone else anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation other than him with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
