This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future away from worry.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and strong coffee as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
