The Gory Cartoon Film Conclusion That Stays With Audiences

Among every mature animated films I have ever watched, nothing has stuck with me quite like the terror-laced ending of the graphically gory and overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spain-based writer-director developed a dark, somber and often savage world with some tiny , forlorn glimmers of optimism.

While The Unicorn Wars seems like it came from a desire to push the medium even more, the filmmaker stated that it was more an attempt to convey a global, multicultural message concerning “the common origin of each battle.”

That idea is communicated through a squad of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly inspired by a popular line of lovable figures.

Growing up in a society centered on warmongering and the war machine, a lot of these animals are fixated on killing unicorns, thanks to a religious scripture that claims the bears they previously were rulers of the woods, until the horned beings expelled them.

Others did not entirely accepted the indoctrination, and choose to experiment with drugs or fornicate in the woods.

Unlike their friendly counterparts, these bright beings display sexual organs , clear sex drives.

For a certain especially vicious, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the war with the unicorns turns into a path toward dominance — and specifically to authority above his softer, nicer brother Tubby.

The character behaves aggressively , an obvious psychopath , and while fear dominates his group and kills his teammates one by one, he takes increasingly control on his own behalf, in increasingly violent, damaging approaches.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are suffering their own terror, as a growing, deadly beast in their woods.

“At the beginning, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the director said. “But then it turns into a more serious and melancholic movie. And by the end, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars begins similar to one of the more playful movies by a renowned animator, that discover a mischievous joy in permitting animated figures swear, shoot each other, or have intimate relations.

Subsequently it evolves into something more like a darker film from that director, with increasingly explicit brutality , a palpable connection to the real suffering of conflict.

By the end, it becomes an outright theatrical horror bloodbath.

The horror that turns this a Halloween-friendly viewing kicks in much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated lovers of violence, for lovers of graphic films who desire to view a film they have not seen on-screen before, and who can handle a story that pulls unflinching brutality.

Watch it in a dark room without any distractions, and that ending will crawl into your mind and take up residence there.
