Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for questions to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

ā€œI feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from the top,ā€ the coach remarked.

ā€œIt would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.ā€

He continued, ā€œI am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.ā€

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

ā€œWe communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.ā€

He mentioned, ā€œDuring our regular exchanges I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.ā€

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

ā€œI haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,ā€ Jones said.

ā€œIt's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.ā€

He went on, ā€œIt's tough because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.ā€

ā€œIn recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell such as this with outcomes so bad.ā€

Jones concluded, ā€œBut we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we will always compete.ā€

ā€œOur aim is to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.ā€

ā€œAt this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.ā€
