Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
