American performer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA on Monday following cancer treatment since 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a announcement.

They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

A Notable Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He guided, supported, and advised many learners throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.

Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
