A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
